Our personal divinity
This bimester we learnt more about ourselves. Based on the astonishing books of Jean Shinoda Bolen: The God in Every Man and The Great Goddess in Every Woman we read about Greek mythology and archetypes. Shinoda Bolen offers you a wide description of the most important deities in the old Greece and their personalities. In that way, we read about all of these characters and found out who the most alike to our attitude was. The author based this interesting theory on Jungian psychology and we tried to get to know ourselves as human beings. Just like the deities do, we have our own strengths and weaknesses. When we were through with the book, all of us represented our personality and the god/goddess that was more similar to us in a mask. Some of us used plaster, others paper and then we all painted it. This was an awesome project because we mixed psychology with history and arts. We learnt more about our personality and the personalities of our classmates. By the end of this project we concluded that it is not just one god or goddess living in ourselves: we are a mix of all of them. There will be times when we are more similar to one and there will be others when another divinity will dominate.

Este bimestre aprendimos más acerca de nosotros mismos. Utilizando los grandes libros de Jean Shinoda Bolen: “El dios en cada hombre” y “La diosa en cada mujer”. Leímos sobre mitología griega y los arquetipos que habitan en cada ser humano. Shinoda Bolen te ofrece una amplia descripción de las deidades griegas más importantes y sus respectivas personalidades. De esta manera, nosotros aprendimos acerca de estos personajes y nos dimos cuenta de que dios o diosa era más parecido a cada uno de nosotros. La interesante teoría del autor se apoya en la psicología Jungiana la cual nos trata de dar a entender que como seres humanos, al igual que los dioses griegos, tenemos fortalezas y debilidades. Cuando acabamos el libro, cada uno tuvo que representar al dios o diosa a la que se parecía más en una máscara. Algunos de nosotros usamos yeso y otros papel. Después todos la pintamos. Éste fue un proyecto asombroso porque aprendimos más sobre nosotros mismos y sobre los demás. Mi conclusión es que no somos sólo un dios o diosa: somos una combinación de todos. A veces somos más parecidos a uno y a veces somos más parecidos a otro.
